NORWICH, NY (May 25, 2017) – A new employee meeting area on NBT Bank’s corporate campus in downtown Norwich now features the artwork of Norwich Middle School Art Enrichment students. On Thursday, May 25, the students had the opportunity to visit NBT for the unveiling of a grouping of three canvases they designed and painted for the bank.
Earlier this year, NBT created their new meeting area based on an open concept to provide employees with a new space to come together and collaborate. “We wanted to add artwork to the space that would highlight our corporate values,” said NBT Director of Corporate Communications Florence Doller. “We contacted Art Teacher Matthew Wilson, and he felt it would be a challenging project for his advanced art students.”
“This group in particular was very excited about the opportunity to create the canvases,” commented Wilson. “As a group, we went through the phases a professional artist would. First, the students created designs individually based off of the client’s wants and needs. Then we collaborated on what the final design would be and ended up doing a blend of a couple student designs. After we selected the color schemes, we began sketching out the design. The students tackled the painting as a team, and everyone had a hand in the actual creation. They are very excited about the last part of the process, which is the exhibition!”
NBT Executive Vice President of Operations and Retail Banking Joe Stagliano said, “We are honored to have the creative work of these students on display at NBT. The ability to work as a team to meet a challenge is an important life skill, and we’re glad we could partner with the school to provide the students with this experience that will serve as an inspiration to our employees.”
Students participating in Norwich Middle School Art Enrichment include: Natalie Benenati, Kaitlyn Blaisure, Savia Boyer, Angela Carlson, Kaili Fuller, Jesse Giordano, Jeanine Gonzalez, Andrew Meccariello, Andrew Mullen, Abigail Natoli, Makenna Nial, Bailey Olds, Maria Pomares, Sophia Root, Emma Scheuer, Rachel Seeley, Madison Stafford, Jessie Sutton and Samantha Taylor.
